The year 2020 will go down in the history books as the year of the pandemic. Large parts of Norwegian society were shut down on 12 March. People left their workplaces and started working from home offices for an indefinite period. The services we provide have a large element of physical encounters between people in workplaces that are bustling with activity. Canteen operations, camps, cleaning, restaurants, catering, conferences and offshore services are impossible to deliver from a home office. That is why we at 4Service have really noticed the consequences of the pandemic, and this applies most of all to our 1,200 good colleagues who were laid off during this period.

At the same time, the year of the pandemic has really demonstrated the strengths of our unique culture. When I look back on this special year, I associate it with solidarity, willingness to change, creativity and empathy. I am incredibly proud of how we have managed to emerge stronger from this year of crisis. We have secured the workplaces in the face of an enormous ordeal, but we have also created new services, adjusted existing deliveries, won large assignments and together shown customers that our staff are the best in the industry at finding good solutions when faced with multiple challenges. We have done this for our clients, for the company and for each other.

2020 was also the year in which our company celebrated its 10th anniversary. Over a hectic decade, we have grown to become a significant premise supplier in a number of service industries. We have passed NOK 2 billion in turnover, and at the end of the year we had a total of 3500 employees. We have been on an incredible journey, and our successes can first and foremost be attributed to my wonderful colleagues. We had therefore also planned a number of events to celebrate the anniversary in 2020. Naturally, these were cancelled or significantly scaled down, both for reasons of infection control and out of respect for everyone who has experienced a very tough year. Fortunately, there will be new opportunities to celebrate, and then we will all do so together. Until that time arrives, I would like to say to our employees, clients, investors and partners: Thank you so much for the past year, and for the first ten years. Now we are very much looking forward to the journey ahead!

During the company's first nine years of existence, we only delivered annual reports with mandatory figures and information. There has been little time to look back while we were experiencing strong growth. But this year we decided to provide more. Naturally, the figures are included, but the main part concerns meetings with employees from a number of our divisions and services. This is where we find the stories behind the results that the numbers represent. With this extended annual report, we want to give the reader a greater insight into the unique culture that is the very foundation of 4Service.
